Dr. Robert White is a Professor of Neurosurgery and one of the world's leading neurologists. He is also a Catholic, and a member of the Vatican's ‘Academy of Sciences’, is ‘pro-life’, and is on record objecting to human embryos being used in brain tissue experimentation.
He also cuts the heads off small animals and re-attaches them to different bodies. And now he wants to do it to people !.
In 1973, Dr. White removed the head from an living, anaesthetized monkey and re-attached it to another recently beheaded monkeys body. The resulting ‘transplantee’ was able to see, hear and breathe independently.
Unfortunately, it was also paralyzed from the neck down, due to the inability to successfully ‘reattach’ spinal column tissue.
Now retired, Dr. White is still hopeful of becoming the first person to perform a head transplant on a human being. (He refers to his operation as a ‘full body transplant’, believing that the human ‘essence’ is contained only in the brain).
Imagine having your head removed and grafted onto another body.
I can see the trade in young corpses required to rejuvenate vampire-like ageing actress becoming an instant boom industry.
And how long could you potentially stay alive, assuming you could procure a new ‘bod’ every seventy or so years ? ... and what of your brain ?. The mental picture of a sexy 25year old body with a wrinkled prune of a head and Alzheimer’s to boot is not a pretty one.
What would qualify one for such a ‘procedure’ anyway ?. Would there be stringent medical testing or would it be a free-for-all for anyone who figures that a whole new bod will do better than trying to take care of the one you already fucked up ?.
And you could have a limp. Or a pungent body odour. You might be really hairy. You would have someone else’s feet. Ewww !. Assuming you could actually walk, that is.
And could you choose the new body ?. Could you specify in advance that you’d like to be young, fit and healthy ?. (The thing about young healthy people, of course, is they they’re generally alive), so where would they get so many young healthy corpses ?.
If they waited for folks to die of natural causes or from accidents or illness, like with other transplants, they’d be left with a bunch of clapped-out dead people whose bodies were no good for anything. Besides, one young healthy body could save 5 or 6 people with organ transplants instead of just one whole body.
Still, one good thing could potentially come out of this. It could spell the end of the virulent Viagra spammers. Who needs Viagra when you can just whip on a new hard young bod to match your millions and keep your trophy bride ‘seen-to’ when she’s not busy screwing the gardener ?.
