... issues and tissues with a touch of the spicy from the spirit hag ...

strong voices draw criticism regardless of the subject matter. that is the nature of the human animal. we like proof. we like to know stuff. we argue points and exchange views. in this way, we hope to learn.

through our challenging of thoughts and ideas, change is born. healthy change. progress is made. new worlds unfold.

but when does "challenging" become "attacking" ?. does an "opponent" nullify his/her own argument by presenting it in a less than polite way ?. even though i do find it logical that "thoughtless/unkind/" comments on a piece of writing with a "personal" theme will be taken personally, it is still awful to witness.

this medium suffers an horrific paradox. the (relative) anonymity provides for complete openness and truth. yet there is an undeniable relief in being liked "anyway" by readers ... and from these "readers" must come our comments ... and these comments thus take on a disproportionate importance.

the flaming "thing" isn't new. it's not uncommon. it's not going to stop anytime soon. as long as humans can communicate, humans will argue. but if someone deliberately pisses you off with some stupid "opinion" or nasty slur, just get out of the way and let 'em get on with their thing.

if you're tempted to flame someone, try and remember that you don't really know the person you're aiming at, no matter how many "private" details you may have learned. if some unhappy person hassles you, try and have pity instead of making them (and yourself) feel like shit by turning it into a public mud-slinging that can't possibly have any "winner".

just do your thing. your way. without negative influence and the best way you can. the only true human failure is the failure to be truthful to oneself. don't go there. it's much too hard to get back.

and if all else fails, try and at least keep this is mind: the number of people that are questioning you is relative to the number of people that are listening to you.

... so don't let them down. capiche ? ...
