... issues and tissues with a touch of the spicy from the spirit hag ...

i have the strength of sixty men, i'm over ten feet tall
i'm footed, though i never move, it's said that i can fall

in grand ballrooms i can be seen holding up affairs
and i can bring the house down if i crack up near the stairs

... what am i ?

if you know the solution to this riddle, please make me very happy by posting it ... but if you do post the answer, you must post the next riddle to be guessed by the next successful person, and so on. or so i hope.

course, the whole thing could get ignored, too. how embarrasing that would be. hehe. oh, well ... the risks one will take in order to achieve linguistic banter these days apparently know no bounds !!!. somebody guess, dammit

Since I answered a few, I'll post a couple of new ones:

1)
My step is slow
the snow's my breath
I give the ground
a grinding death
My marching
makes an end of me
Slain by sun
or drowned in sea.

2)
The Moon is my father,
the Sea is my mother;
I have a million brothers,
I die when I reach land.

3)
I'm often held, yet rarely touched;
I'm always wet, yet never rust;
I'm sometimes wagged and sometimes bit;
To use me well, you must have wit.

Okay - I'll come back after I have a sleep

I've got the answer....finally... took me ages though...
on Sep 23, 2004
trina, I hope you've woken up by now!

The only guess I have for Lengirl so far is "Tax collector"....
on Sep 24, 2004
If people told the truth more often, I'd make more money. What do I do?

Is it an Insurance company...?

Is that a toothbrush....?
on Sep 25, 2004
Crusaders, interesting guess, but no, not a toothbrush.

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50."

The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less.

In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

I can't get any of the other riddles yet but I thought I'd throw this one into the mix.....hope it hasn't already been done yet!?

The man wrote the words "your exact weight" on the piece of paper - like he said he would so the boy had to pay up -- what I want to know is where the boy got $50 from.

Ciathellion - i don't think I'm awake enough yet - even thought it's been a week.

I don't think its toothbrush because of the line about wit -- oh it just hit me -- Tongue -- hold your tongue, bite your tongue -- etc.

okay I had a look at the other two -- but I haven't got them yet
on Sep 25, 2004
oh it just hit me -- Tongue

You're awake enough to get one!
on Sep 25, 2004
Yeah I know I was thinking about how I thought Crusaders was wrong a couple of days ago when it hit me - litterally just wham - tongue -- the same thing happened with that odyseus one too - Bam

It's a very lazy Sunday afternoon I feel like I know both the other ones but it hasn't hit me yet

Am I on the right track with snow flakes/icicles for the first one or stars/shooting stars for the second???
on Sep 27, 2004
Yes on the first, in a vague sort of way; no on the second.
on Sep 27, 2004
Okay I have no idea **
on Sep 27, 2004
Hello everybody!!
I can't get the remaining riddles...but do you mind if I throw one in the mix...?

I cannot be felt, seen or touched;
Yet I can be found in everybody;
My existence is always in debate;
Yet I have my own style of music.
What Am I?

I'm often held, yet rarely touched;
I'm always wet, yet never rust;
I'm sometimes wagged and sometimes bit;
To use me well, you must have wit.

Actually....is this one a pen?

on Sep 27, 2004
Ooops...it was tongue not pen...!!
