the world needs a suggestion box. i figure here is as good a place as any to start one up. so, unfold your torn half-sheet of scrap a4 paper and scrawl down a message to the world. the idea being to blame nobody in particular, just give the world a hint at what it might do to sort things out. i'll go first ...

dear world, i think it would be wonderful if everybody living in you saw each other as part of the one giant family

(i warned you. first stop, idealism central).

This is a fab idea....and can I just say I've missed you around here Mig.

Dear World, I'd like it if everyone wasn't judged by how they look or social status. I'd like people to be able to take a chance on strangers, treat them as friends you've not met yet. Hmmm...I'll think some more and come back with more suggestions!

Dear World: I would like to suggest that you reserve rain for weekdays between the hours of 9am and 5 pm when I am sitting at my desk. Weekends should be reserved for sunshine...it should not be the other way around, and I think recently you have forgotten this. I hope you don't mind this friendly reminder.

(sorry, mig, that was a bit of a selffish request...more idealistic requests will come later!)

i read a lovely poem about this once sal, i'll publish the whole thing for you when i can find it (not even sure who it was, but i remember this quote:

"not just a stranger, unloved and unknown, but a friend with a heart that is much like my own"

hi dharma !. excellent suggestion. we are all coming up with some good ones here, just quietly in our little corner. it's heartening to know that we all care

As far as my suggestion:

Dear World, Could you please evict the current tenents and remind the landlord the the very concept of a bond has been made a mockery of.

as an aside, could you allow work to be proportionate to need rather than wealth and growth as opposed to accumulation. Can you make television, once again, a conduit of education rather than infotainment, could books be made to last and dvd's not to be scratched, could you allow it so these petty complaints and wishes would be all we had to worry about.

excellent suggestion, marco. i do think we have rather a large damage bill to make good with at the end of our tenancy ... i fear she may have to blow the house down ....

by that i will assume you mean grant everyones' wishes as per above. all those trifles like world peace and no hunger and all that. so we can get back to the business of living ... and sit in rooms alone reading or watch films in the dark or type into a weblog)
