... issues and tissues with a touch of the spicy from the spirit hag ...
... it is. just trust me.

The world is round. I know this because it is 4pm on Thursday afternoon. Yes, I know it's not really. But it is. For me, anyway.

Me. Adrift in a cultural wasteland in which a small problem called 'distance' renders my 'real time' participation on JU near impossible. Many's the morning I have woken to find a fabulous party going on in my comments that I wasn't invited to !. I post. I sit. I wait. I fall asleep (sometimes even in that order).

I wake to find that a stimulating and relevant conversation has occurred in my blog ...

As I frantically type responses to the insightful and witty exchange, I very much have the feeling of the person who got the dates mixed up and arrived for a party on Saturday that was held on Friday. It's all over. Everyone has long finished partying and passed out on their respective pillows before I even arrive !.

I have tried on several occasions, whilst near rabid with sleeplessness, to actually 'catch' people I 'know' posting in the forums and 'talk' to them. On several occasions I have managed to ambush a few unsuspecting bloggers with most satisfying results !.

But these occasions are sadly few and far between. And unfortunately they also fail to showcase my desire for interaction by way of my total lack of cognitive capacity at 4am. Oh, woe is me !.

So, next time you're wondering why I never seem to know what's going on, there you have it. My JU catch-up involves a mad daily scramble to tack onto the end of anything 'still alive', plus a huge 'wade though' to find the things I missed after I fell asleep with my face in my keyboard. Again.

So, until Dharma succeeds in her plan to alter world time (and if anybody can do it, it's Dharma !), have some sympathy for a girl, would you please ?. The very least you could do is stay up once in a while and keep me company.

I understand completely. The timezone thing. It's as if by the time you arrive, the discussion was over long ago, and even if you post it's like, ok...well, we were done like 6 hours ago?

Yeah this time of day - and the next couple of hours - up to about 8pm our time is really slow -- from about 8:30 on other Australians blog but all the Americans have gone to bed being 4am there and the Brits are at work being midday there.

Timezones are a funny thing - I said as much on Tegan's blog yesterday -- she was saying she was going to stay up really late tonight (last night) and go to bed at 10pm and Aria wondered what she was doing up so late -- when it was 11am here.

trina, it is bizarre that way. i've spoken to someone who was eating their lunch and i'm like "it's 2am !". i can't get my head around it !

ive been lobbying since 97 (when i first ran into the problem of gmt+1 vs gmt-8) for a progressive global unified time zone.  it wouldnt be that difficult to implement.  if only id been female when clinton was president, we'd have it now dammit

*snickers quietly because it sounds like something she would say*

I experienced similar frustration when my husband was stationed in Korea. We talked pretty much every day, but the time difference made it very strange at times.

citahellion, you never let me down !. that comment made me do this:

i agree, ladycleave. it's very hard to 'match moods' when one of you is just waking up in the morning and the other is ready to go to sleep for the day !.

oh, thankyou joey !. this is for you:

I have had the good fortune of finding people visiting the same time......though I always seem to be a couple of sentences behind as when using Messenger. I don't mind if I don't actually catch people in real time.......because when I log in it gives me time to go down the lists and have a real read of everyone's sites and I know eventually the words will be read and questions will be answered.......whether it's 4am or 4pm here or over there.
By the way.. I must say... at first I felt like I was an intruder of sorts as you all seem to have forged such firm friendships but you have all been very welcoming and I am enjoying the chats and ideas....thoughts and stories.

Be seeing you around!
