... the webcam spy worm has come to try us ... *sigh*

Great. Virus writers have developed a "Peeping Tom" worm uses your own webcam to spy on you. Oh, super news, that !.

The Rbot-GR worm spreads via network shares, exploiting Microsoft security vulnerabilities and installing a backdoor Trojan as it travels. Once infected, remote access can be gained to the PC's hard drive, as well as remote activation of any connected webcam or microphone.

Apparently hackers are becoming more interested in spying on the people they manage to infect with their worms and Trojan horses. For the home user, it is almost the equivalent of a virtual “Peeping Tom” peeking through your pc ‘curtains’.

If your computer is infected and you have a webcam plugged in, then everything you do in front of the computer can be seen, and everything you say can be recorded. Nice !.

i found something similar (altho it only worked if yahoo messenger was installed on the target system) about a year ago.  written by a 17-year-old evil genius.

im guessing activating a cam would cause the power indicator light to go on but...?

anyone who activates my mic will go nuts listening to the tapping of overly active fingers punctuated by the occasional vulgarity and/or sigh of perplexed mirth.
