... issues and tissues with a touch of the spicy from the spirit hag ...

i have musician friends. (don't be impressed. all geeky girls do). anyway, one of these friends (and by default thereby, all of us) has found himself suddenly in possession of a "wayne".

any of you who have musical or artistic friends will have met a wayne at some point. waynes' start out seeming harmless enough. they pop up at the odd show. have a chat, maybe a beer afterwards. then they appear more regularly. in more places. soon, you have yourselves a real problem.

now, wayne is a nice guy. don't get me wrong. but he and his kind invade peoples' lives and try to live vicariously through them and those that they know. yes, he's an aging "musician". yes, it's a shame his dreams never came true. no, none of us know what to do about him - short of offending him. and as i said, he's a nice guy - what do you do ?

Waynes are nice people. My middle name happens to be Wayne. I would just tell him that you don't mean to offend him but... and then let 'em have it. Honesty is the best policy and besides he is wasting his time being friends with people who don't want his friendship. GCJ

it is because his feelings and friendship ARE valued that we have a problem. like i said, he is a nice guy. and i'm certain he already knows the truth deep down. my point was that people such as wayne put themselves into situations where eventually they are hurt. the truth is, this guy colonises peoples' lives. he calls at all hours. he represents himself as an official on behalf of the band without permission...

... he doesn't seem to know much about their music, or anything about them as people, though. he just loves that reflected limelight. which is, in its' own way, equally as dishonest.
